The Arctic Slope Regional Corporation is seeking nominations for candidates to fill five three-year terms on the ASRC Board of Directors. Nominations are sought for the following five board seats:

Jacob Adams, Sr.
Barrow, Seat #6

Ida Olemaun
Barrow, Seat #7

George T. Kaleak, Sr.
Kaktovik, Seat #8

George Sielak
Nuiqsut, Seat #9

Sandra Stuermer
At-Large, Seat #10

Shareholders interested in the open seats for Barrow, Kaktovik or Nuiqsut must be residents of those villages.*

The ASRC Bylaws define residency for a village seat as follows: “[A]t the time of filing, the candidate or director lived in the applicable village for at least one year prior to filing and…the candidate’s or director’s primary home is in said village.” The At-Large #10 seat is open to any shareholder regardless of residence. To be eligible for nomination, shareholders must be eighteen (18) years of age or older and Native or Descendants of a Native, as defined in the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act.

Shareholders interested in becoming a candidate for election to the ASRC Board must fill out and submit a Statement of Interest Form and obtain the signatures of at least 25 adult shareholders in support of his/her nomination. Candidates must also fill out and submit a Proxy Statement Disclosure Form. The Statement of Interest & Disclosure Forms must be returned to the ASRC Corporate Secretary, Mary Ellen Ahmaogak at the Barrow office by 3:00 p.m. on Friday March 15, 2013. If you do not timely submit all of the required information you will not be included as a candidate in the ASRC Board Proxy Statement & Ballot, which will be mailed to shareholders prior to the annual meeting in Wainwright, Alaska on June 15, 2013.

*A director may retain residency if the director is appointed by ASRC’s Board or management to a position which requires the director to live outside of the village.
