Following the recent filing by the U.S. Department of Justice, defending a 2020 Record of Decision (ROD) for the Willow Master Development Plan Project (or “Willow Project”), Arctic Slope Regional Corporation (ASRC) is issuing the following statement:
“The filing on May 26, 2021, maintaining that the Record of Decision for the Willow Project complied with National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) standards, is certainly encouraging news for the region we represent, Alaska’s North Slope, as well as the rest of the state, as it will bolster our domestic energy security.
The Willow Project, located in the Bear Tooth Unit in the northeast portion of the National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska, (NPR-A), will provide not only much-needed jobs for our people, but also tax revenue to support our schools, health clinics and other infrastructure and public services. We are pleased to see that this project has met the rigorous NEPA standards and look forward to our continued partnership with ConocoPhillips to move this project forward.
ASRC would also like to thank Senator Lisa Murkowski, Senator Dan Sullivan and Congressman Don Young for their tireless efforts in support of this project.”
